From organic soil restoration to cocoa aggregation, skilled labour deployment to full-cycle farm management — Emfed Farms delivers practical, end-to-end agricultural services that help farmers grow more, earn more, and farm sustainably.
Compost Manure Production
Emfed Farms operates dedicated compost production facilities at Assin Fosu and Debiso,
converting locally abundant agricultural waste into premium-quality organic manure.
As soil degradation continues to threaten farm productivity across Ghana’s cocoa-growing
communities, our compost delivers a proven, sustainable solution — restoring soil fertility,
improving crop yields, and reducing farmer dependency on costly imported chemical fertilisers.
Our production follows a rigorous, scientifically grounded protocol supervised by trained staff,
producing compost that meets the quality standards demanded by international partners including
Barry Callebaut, SNV, and JS COCOA B.V.
Our 6-Step Production Process
A carefully managed process designed to produce high-quality organic compost
for sustainable agricultural productivity.
1. Material Collection
Cocoa pod husks from proximity centres, poultry manure from local farms,
and oil palm residues are sourced and aggregated at our production sites.
2. Shredding
Bulky organic material is processed through our industrial shredder to reduce
particle size and increase surface area for faster decomposition.
3. Mixing
Shredded materials are blended in precise proportions to achieve an optimal
Carbon-to-Nitrogen (C:N) ratio of 25:1 to 30:1.
4. Composting (Windrow Turning)
Mixed material is formed into windrows and regularly turned using a windrow turner.
Temperature and moisture are continuously monitored to maintain aerobic conditions.
5. Curing
The compost is left to stabilise for 30–45 days, ensuring full maturation
before it reaches farmers’ fields.
6. Screening & Packaging
Finished compost is sieved for consistency, bagged using our automated bagging machine,
and stored ready for distribution to our proximity centres and direct customers.
🌱 Why Organic Compost?
Years of farming without adequate soil replenishment have caused widespread soil degradation
across Ghana’s cocoa belt.
Our compost restores soil structure, boosts water retention, improves microbial activity,
and delivers sustained nutrient release — outcomes chemical fertilisers alone cannot provide.
🔄 Circular Economy Model
Our proximity centres double as collection points for the raw organic waste used in compost production.
Waste from cocoa farms becomes a resource that goes back to those very farms — creating a
closed-loop, community-embedded circular economy.

Whether a farmer needs a seasonal team for harvesting, a regular crew for maintenance,
or specialist labour for specific agronomic tasks, Emfed Farms provides a dependable solution —
removing the burden of recruitment, supervision, and payroll management from the farmer entirely.
